Family Literacy


Ashe Family Literacy offers to adults in our community classes in English as a Second Language, General Education Development, Adult High School, and an opportunity to improve basic skills. These classes are possible through the cooperation of the Ashe Partnership for Children, Ashe Family Resource Center, Ashe County Schools and Wilkes Community College.


Adult Education

Work toward educational and personal goals.
Acquire interpersonal skills.
Comfortable small group setting.
Support for Parents.
Balance of individual and group instruction.

Early Childhood Education

Developmentally appropriate curriculum and environment.
Promotes growth and development of young children.
Engages parents in child educational program.
Stimulating environment for active exploration, self-discovery and play.

Parent and Child Together Time (PACT)

Regularly scheduled time for parents and children to spend together every day.
Parents support and extend children’s learning through play.
Child initiated activities in a stimulating environment.
Quality time with your child.

Group Time

A time for adults to give and receive support.
A chance to connect with other adults and form friendships.
Talk about a variety of topics and interest.
Practice goal setting and problem solving.
Fun activities and projects.
