Why Mountainscapes...

Are You Really That Different From Other Rental Companies?
YES - Because we offer only the best homes available to our guests. Our company is built on “quality” - not quantity! Each property has to meet our standards for prime location, proximity to activities, attractive decor, warmth and real character. When you spend your valuable time and money on the perfect vacation, you should not have to stay in a second-rate accommodation. Not only that, but offering exclusive rentals is all that we do - it’s not a side business. Our expertise and attention to detail bring you a better view, a quieter setting, a nicer home - and in the end, a more satisfying vacation.

What Is There To Do & How Do We Get There?
Again, we go that extra mile and do all the things needed to ensure that your stay is memorable. With Mountainscapes, you’ll receive a personalized arrival packet that includes dozen of tips - what we would do if we were vacationing here, so that you will enjoy North Carolina as much as we do. You’ll learn where to find the farmers’ market, the best restaurants, when to catch that local performance, ideas for fun day trips and great places to hike or canoe. Do you have a special hobby or interest? If so, let us know and we will include any information we have on the subject. We are available to answer your questions from the day you make your reservation to the day you head for home.

What Do We Need To Bring?
With Mountainscapes we take the work out of it for you - after all “you are on vacation aren’t you?” Our homes are thoughtfully stocked with nice bed linens, towels and a starter kit including toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, dish liquid, and some trash bags. You just bring your clothes, pick up a few groceries (or arrange for our stocking service), then sit back, put your feet up and make yourself right at home.

Do We Have To Do A Lot Of Cleaning?
Not with Mountainscapes! Our professional cleaning staff makes sure that your home is cleaned top to bottom before your arrival. This and a departure clean are included in your rental fee. We won’t ask you to wash the linens; our staff does that for you. We have designed our services so that your North Carolina memories will be filled with the good times your family enjoyed on your vacation, not of cleaning!

What If We Want To Be Pampered?
Mountainscapes can make all your wishes come true. Want daily maid service? Not a problem. We will be glad to line it up for you. “No cooking on this vacation” - how about in-home catering? Want the refrigerator and pantry stocked when you arrive? Not a problem, leave the shopping to us. What about a tee time for that golf game or bike rentals, we can arrange it. We could go on and on but we think you get the picture. No matter what you need, if you would like someone to do it for you we can find the right person. When you are miles from home you want to know you are in the best hands and with people who know the local resources.

Is There A Way To Stay In Touch With My Office?
Absolutely! Mountainscapes provides complimentary business services just for our visitors. We have tailored our office to provide you with the convenience of your office back home. We have a copier, fax, notary, office space, computer and wireless high-speed internet access all at your disposal. You can also go about your day exploring the High Country as we will send or receive your overnight deliveries.

When Do We Have To Check In And Check Out?
Our normal check-in time is between 3PM and 5PM. We try hard to make your arrival and departure as pleasant as the rest of your vacation. If you think that your arrival will be after hours please call our office toll-free at 888-846-8971 and we will leave your arrival packet outside in our late arrival box, complete with directions to your property. Please be sure and bring a flashlight if you plan on arriving after dark as most of our properties are located in the country! To ensure our cleaning staff has sufficient time to prepare the property before
our next guests arrive we have to ask that you are out promptly by 10:00AM. If you know that you are going to be later than the normal check out time please
call our office ahead to make arrangements for a late departure. Many times at the end of a holiday weekend we are able to extend the check out time until the afternoon. Please ask – we want you to enjoy our part of the country!

What Is The Best Season To Visit?
What about spring, or summer, maybe fall or even winter? No matter which season you choose you can’t go wrong. We always have a wonderful array of shopping opportunities from art galleries and craft boutiques to old fashioned general stores and antique auctions. Want to just sit and listen to birds’ sing, photograph wild flowers as they bloom and avoid the busy summer? Then spring is the season for you. If your family enjoys canoeing, hiking, fishing, picnics or music festivals then summer is your time. Are you a “Leaf Looker”? Then we don’t have to tell you that fall is your time of the year. For those who want to choose and cut that special Christmas tree, hit the ski slopes or curl up by the fire with a great book then its winter for you. Not sure which is your favorite season? Then come back again and again and decide for yourself.

Holidays In The Mountains… Sounds Special, Is It?
Holidays might just be the very best time of year! There is nothing quite like being in a small town celebrating the 4th of July to experience the pride of our country.
Thanksgiving seems to be the favorite time of the year for extended families to gather in the mountains, have a feast, then visit one of our many Choose and Cut Christmas tree fields to pick out that special tree to take home. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always popular. Our mountains are a wonderful getaway to recuperate from the holidays and welcome the New Year.

When Should We Make Our Plans?
It is always best to book as early as possible, that ensures you’ll have all the preferred options. We have some guests that plan and reserve six months to a year in advance. Remember some months are a lot busier than others. The months that children are out of school are busy and in the fall when the foliage is at its peak. If your vacation plans fall within those times we suggest that you reserve your property as early as possible to avoid any disappointments.

We Love Our Children And Pets!
So do we! Bring the whole crew since most of our homes accept both. There are just a few properties that are not the best choice if you have small children, and a few that cannot accommodate pets. Just call or e-mail us and we will guide you to the perfect home. We want your stay carefree and your family safe.

What If I Have To Cancel My Trip?
We understand that things can happen unexpected and we will do everything possible to re-rent the property so that you can receive a full refund less a $75.00 reservation fee. One way that you can protect yourself is to take the travel protection insurance that Mountainscapes offer through CSA Travel Protection Group. The cost is not that great for the peace of mind that it will provide. Then you will not have to worry in the event that we are unable to re-rent the property. However, PLEASE understand, if you choose not to subscribe to the travel insurance and the property cannot be re-rented we would not be able to issue you a refund.

How Do I Make A Reservation?
Call toll-free at 888-846-8971 or send us an e-mail telling what home caught your fancy and when you would like to visit. We will get you on our calendar to provide your much needed rest and relaxation. You may then pay on line with your credit card or mail us the advance payment which includes half of the total rental rate. The balance including the tax and a security deposit is typically due 30 days prior to your arrival.

How Much Will It Cost Me?
Whether you are on a budget or want to indulge yourself in luxury we can assist in finding the perfect cabin. Give us a call, let us know what you have in mind and we will help you find the home that meets your expectations!

Who Exactly Is MOUNTAINSCAPES?
As owner of Mountainscapes, Carol Dodson brings twenty-five years of property management experience and combines it with her love of Ashe County and its people. When Carol’s not in the office you will have to look around to the many organizations she is involved with –the local Chamber of Commerce, West Jefferson Revitalization, Ashe County Christmas Tree Growers, High Country Business Network… (you’ll get exhausted if we continue).

Charlotte Parker is our Office Manager and resident angel. If Charlotte doesn’t know how, no one does! Before moving to Ashe County Charlotte lived and worked in the eastern part of the state helping people getaway to the beaches. She is a very talented cake decorator, crafter and good friend.

Mountainscapes is committed to providing the very best experience for our visitors. We are proud of our region and appreciate the opportunity to “show it off”.
